These joysticks were used in EP1 (Engineering Production) Joy-Cons during the development of the Nintendo Switch. They're slightly smaller than the retail version, and have semi-opaque rubber on top instead of black.
Photos of these joysticks can often be seen in both the Nintendo Switch SDK and Nintendo's company brochures. This version of Joy-Con also had a camera-shaped screenshot button, unlike the finalized square one.
